I am planning on making a wedding album for a couple I took photos for about a week ago.
1) Where should I get the album made at?
2) What type of paper?
3) For wedding photographers, what other size prints do you usually make for the couple as well?
Thanks!

Hi Eric, were you planning on having a commercial lab make traditional prints for you which you would then mount in a bound book, or were considering a firm like Asuka that takes your prints and converts them into pages?
My bound albums with commercial printed photos are usually a mix of 8x10, 5x7, 4x5, 5x5, printed on a pretty decent weight lustre paper. Stay away from thin "magazine style" paper. It's fragile, can tear, and tends to look cheap IMHO. - Stu

Yeah I originally wanted to get it done at ritz since its down the street but saw it was exactly like magazine paper. I thought damn...this isnt going to do.
So what I am looking for is somewhere to print the pictures and bound them for me in a nice leather or vinyl book.

I use Buckeye Color labs to do all my wedding and event work. They are geared to the pro and commercial work. I get my bound album supplies from www.albumsinc.com (http://www.albumsinc.com). The really have a large variety of book and presentation materials for showing and finishing your work.

Is that an Ohio thing? Do you put together your own albums? I'd like to find a company that will do everything for me...print and bind. Do you know of any?

KISS wedding albums (http://www.kissweddingbooks.com/) prints and binds flush mount albums. I haven't ordered one from them myself, but they get good reviews.

AlbumsInc., like other similar companies are nationwide - you can order from anywhere.
But for what you want, you can contact Zookbinders, Capri, Leather Craftsment...... these are several off the top of my head. They will create beautiful leatherbound books to your exact specifications. Prepare to spend easily $200+ for the larger 8x10 or 10x10 format albums; pricey, but beautiful. You get what you pay for :D.

Cool. Thanks. Do I have to send them my prints or will they print them and bind them for me?
The Ohio thing was directed toward the "Buckeye Lab".

With Zookbinders I believe you can now do it BOTH ways. That is, you can either ship them your commerically produced prints, or FTP them the image files. For the most part I've sent them actual prints that Buckeye has produced for me.
Actually there are labs all over the country that will only produce the prints, or produce and bind to. It's not just an Ohio thing. You just have to google around and see who is offering what these days. Most places are so competitive anymore that they are trying to offer everything to everybody. That can be good or bad if they try to do too many things at one time without a proven track record or good experience. Buyer beware:rolleyes:

Anyone has experience with Candid 2000 albums and their print quality? It seems like a good deal, and you don't have to be a pro to order from them (but they ask you to apply for an account before start ordering.)
