On-line DBA registration question?

Okay dumb question but..
I can't seem to find the answer, and am hoping to not have to contact the government to find out.

I filed for my DBA on-line with the state of Missouri (aka I'm in the U.S.), actually through the state not with a 2nd party company, almost a month ago (I think it was about the 11th of November).

I have a receipt and account number etc from the state's web-site. But nothing was ever said about mailing me a certificate or when it would become active, so I don't know what to expect.

Am I pointlessly waiting for some sort of certificate to arrive? Is my receipt my proof of DBA or what?


The reason I'm asking this is I'm waiting to open my business checking account until I have the DBA paperwork in hand.. and beginning to wonder when or if I'm supposed to get something?

If anyone knows the answers please reply.

I don't remember ever getting any "proof" of filing for a dba, or having "dba paperwork" other than my own paperwork when I filed it. It's been quite a while since I've done it, and I'm in Calif, though.

Have you ever done a DBA licensee search on-line.. to see if your listed then? When I do that it says 'none found.' :(

I just want to be sure it's properly setup, before I parade on into the bank to setup my business account!

No, I haven't done a search. I was googling around, and couldn't find a way to search. Do you have a way I could do this?

As far as the bank, can't you just give them a ring and ask what paperwork they'll need for the account?

Well the one I searched on seems to be related to Missouri .. but there may be something similar for CA.. here's the link anyway.

I found me :D! I had to do a search on the Missouri Secretary of State web-site
(sos.mo.gov)

There was a link to a printable document (pdf) that looks like.. one of the papers that printed with my receipt originally..... now I'm highly suspicious that I've had the certificate in my hands the whole time! hmmmmm
