There are many processes you can do in ACR that you can also do in Photoshop CS3.

My question is which of these is it better to do in ACR and not photoshop.

The processes that come to mind are setting blacks/whites, curves, noise reduction, sharpening, color adjustments.

Are there advantages to using ACR for these??

sure, they are at the pixel level so whatever you do in ACR can instantly be undone or changed without any image degredation.

the other ability is for presets to be made and applied to many images at once, much faster and easier than using actions in this sense with bridge (or doing the same in Lightroom (same RAW editor as ACR for the most part)

but other edits like noise reduction I would leave to 3rd party software, neither does a good job, and sharpening should be the very last step of the edit, and adjusted between web vs print.
