How do you keep the durn thing from shutting off?

I bought a used one in good condition to use off camera with the Skyports. Got it in today and ran it through a practice session with the eBay trigger/receiver. After not being fired for 90 seconds, it shut off and wouldn't turn on until I pressed the test button. This is not good. I didn't do enough research before making the purchase.

My intention is to use it with a 430EX mounted in tandem on a "MT Stringer custom flash bracket" secured to the wall of a gymnasium up above the last row.

Shucks! Looks like it will be a play toy for studio work that I don't have set up. The Skyports should be here next Tuesday! :D

The 430ez has SE (save energy) built in, it turns off after 90 seconds or 5 mins. This seems to depend on early or late model, to re awaken the flash you need to depress the shutter button half way, no good if your using a optical slave flash cube thingy.

The 540ez has an on switch which has 2 on positions, one marked "I" and the other "SE". the first is on the second is on with power saving, it goes into standby after 90 seconds and is woken by the camera when the shutter button is pressed. If used with an optical slave cube thingy use the first on position.

Unfortunately, there is no option like you mention on the 430EZ. After reading through the manual, "SE" is on and there is no option to turn it off or cancell it. Bummer, huh?
