Cool stuff, I'm drawn to #4 for some reason, B&W conversion fits perfectly.

Very Nice, Care to share what bodies/lenses/flashes where used? I will be shooting the same band shortly and need some help.

Thanks.

#1 is great.
I'd crop #3 a bit. #4 is nice. I'd have liked a bit more room on the right of #8 (headstock).
Nice set.

Very nice set. I've followed Silverchair since the beginning too, except I'm about 3 years older than you. I played the heck out of Frogstomp...and yes, I had a Daniel Johns poster in my room. I haven't listened to them much in the last few years, but their latest album is definitely starting to grow on me.

Love the pictures, love the band. And it's nice to see Daniel in such great form again!

thanks to everyone that has commented so far. bacchanal... if you dont have it already, id definitely recommend picking up their "diorama" cd. it completely changed the way i look at music. im going to see them one more time on the 15th. i cant wait!

Fantastic shots. I love the band too. And not just cos I live in their hometown ;)

I think that they are one of the most underrated bands around(at least in the US. Most people dont know that they came out with anything past frogstomp).i think tue new single is giving them a little more exposure though. Its kind of sad. Ok, im rambling now. Thanks again for the comments. I cant wait for the next show. Its in a pretty small bar.

Yeah, I own all their albums. I never really liked Diorama, but maybe I should listen to it again...I often change my mind about these things. It's kind of disappointing that they are playing all around me in the next week and I won't be able to go see them (I'm going to KS). They're playing at the Music Mill in indy, which is a small restaruant/venue in a nice strip mall...pretty easy to get photo access there for most bands.

Son of a gun! I was at this show on the opposite side of the house! It was a truly incredible show. I'm envious that you were able to get some lovely shots. Were you the fella running around with the 2 1Ds?

nice set you've got here. and nice conversations. do you use an action for that?

splithesky
7th of December 2007 (Fri), 16:15
i wish i would have been strapped with some 1ds. I shot the show with the 30d and the nifty. All of these that i posted were taken from the audience. I was ableto get in front of the barricade for a short time though after the singer nodded to me that it was cool. I only saw one other dslr there and it was a rebel with what I believe was a sigma 70-200. There were two girls up front with media passes that both had point and shoots. I posted 24 of the pics on my myspace blog. If you have one check it out and add me. No actions used with the conversions. Its taken me a little bit if time to get my black and white to where I'm happy with them... So the compliment is greatly appreciated.

Very cool...

I'm trying my hardest to get a photo pass for the show I'm going to soon. No luck yet. I could have shot them back in July, but that's a long story and I'm still not done kicking myself for that one.

We'll see what happens.

These are some great shots! I had a pass for the Cleveland show last night I'll have photos up soon. The show was phenomenal, I haven't seen them in 10 years live and it was great. They definitely have great stage presence these days.

im glad the silverchair fans of the board have united through this thread! its awesome to know that other people are still really into them. cant wait to see your shots jennyro. i tried to get a pass for the mobile alabama show, but was unable. they told me that i couldnt get a pass unless i was shooting for a publication... and if i were shooting for a publication that they would need confirmation from my editor. i plan on going and shooting as a fan just as i did for the first show. i just hope i dont get hassled.

Man I was in high school when they came onto the scene. Weren't they basically high school kids back then? They look much older than me (although I must say I unfortunately look farking old now myself.)

shot 1 is awesome, i think i would have like 6 even better if it wasnt for his head being sliced and most of the neck of the guitar being cut as well.

I hope they do a canadian tour as this is a band i have loved ever since frogstomp. being the same age as them, it was always motivating.

they were 15&16 when they did frogstomp. They were a huge inspiration to me when i was growing up. Its rare that i listen to the early stuff anymore, i felt like i kind of grew up with each album that they did. But it was def good for their age. Ill put up the second ahow shots sometime next week, so try to look out for those. Thanks again for all of the input. Its been nice talking to other fans

i've never even hear of these guys and just took a look around their website. it looks like they have been doing this for a while. i would like to check out their show near atlanta, but it's on my wife's b-day so i doubt that would be her pick of what to do. i did notice that the show in mobile is at soul kitchen which is a cool bar. brad, the guy who owns it, is super nice.

Yeah, they have been at it for over 12 years now. They are the highest selling artist in AUS and have received more Aria awards than any other band(equivalent of grammys) and received a life time achievement award I beleive last year. Its always been strange to me that they haven't gotten any bigger over here. To anyone that hasn't checked them out its at least worth a listen. They are really great musicians/song writers. Alright... I sound like a pr guy now. Sorry. I just like them a lot. If any of you that are reading this have a myspace, you should add me. Myspace.com/danindrahos

House of Blues must be a hot venue, huh? A friend of mine is doing a New Year's Weekend evening show at HoB in Atlantic City... I'm not gonna drive down cause it's so far...

You have some real nice captures... I'd consider taking a lot more pics for more choices.... While # 1 is great, it might be the very best shot ever if it was in Vertical? I like # 6... B&W is just OK with me... But over all, it's a very nice set. Cheers.

I shot around 400 pics that night. I have 16 more on my blog. I think I edited close to 40 of em. These were just some of the first ones done and I wanted to put them up real quick. Everyones favorite seems to be the first. I actually have three continuous shots that go with 6 that I think I'm going to print and put together.

appreciate the kind words! no media pass, shot from the left side of the stage on the barricade. i did get infront of the barricade for a song though. daniel gave me a visual "go on up" during the middle of the set so i took advantage of it. none of those pics are posted up though.

That's a respectable # of captures... Some of the regulars here like to take a few, while others like to take as many as possible... I average 700 -1200 per show... 1 1/2 to 3 hour events. If it is a fast action show, I just shoot away... Especially when the lighting changes constantly, and the performers are running around, and jumping up and down... Let us see some more, when you decide you're ready... Cheers.

PS: My problem is; post processing takes me the better portion of an entire week. So, now I'm taking it easy for a while...
