I like this! It has a really nice "peaceful" quality without all the hussle and flow of baggage carts, honey wagons, etc... Really like the starbursts around the lights. Personally, I'd crop out the parking structure on the right to concentrate solely on the planes waiting at their gates. Have you played with different white balances at all?

Thanks guys!
Heck, ramp work looks hard to me too, lol.
I wouldn't know how hard the labor can be from first hand experience as I work for the county of sacramento and supervise the guys in Airport Operations. The airlines handle the bags and things...Now it does look like hard work, lots of grime and sweat, especially in the summer.
I combined this shot from a series of shots at different speeds, much like HDR but since it was really dark out there I don't believe I captured the full dynamic range. That night I didn't mess with the WB on this shot though...

gosh id give anything just to have 1 hr next to airplanes. security is so tight now. i saw the shamu 737 out there and asked the southwest lady if i could just step outside onto the steps to get a not-through-the-window picture and that wasnt allowed.

You wouldn't be allowed even if you didn't have a camera.
No small, local airstrips near by? If you talk to the airport manager or the person who runs a local flight school, I'd bet you could get approval and/or even an invitation to come get up close and personal with General Aviation aircraft.
Heck for $49-ish, you could even go fly a Cessna 172!

As far as GA aircraft, we have Excecutive Airport, surely you can make some contacts there...Either way Kaitanium, send me a message if you want I can give you some good suggestions on local ways to get good aircraft shots.
This angle is much more fun.
