I'm having the biggest issue now with being able to move music that I down load into my slideshows, even just being able to burn a cd due to copyrights and licenses. Have y'all had this issue and how have you overcome it. I'm not much of a tech person so help is appreciated.
Thanks,

to be perfectly legal, only RF music should be used. Obviously this is limiting and doesn't make the customer happy. But licensing a song for this kind of use is cumbersome and ridiculously expensive. David Jay and company are working with a few labels to develop a way to license songs for reasonable rates for this type of use. But it not available and who knows how long it will take.
Many ignore copyrights and figure that the artist will never know for this type of use.

This is exactly why I didn't go into business making slideshows. I've used music without permission for several family projects, but I can't sell anything. The local shop has a collection of royalty-free stuff, probably from local artists. Bottom line? You'll have to find it free or buy it. Don't expect to use any Kenny Chesney.

Is the issue that you simply cant use the music without providing royalties to the artist
or
is it that if you do use music you cannot use it for promotional or monetary gains? (example: doing a shoot with a family, friend, or girlrfriend in a studio for free and just making a slideshow with music for their viewing purposes?)
