I was leaving school tonight when I saw a league game being played on one of the fields. I had my camera with me, so I seized the day...er night. All shots f/2.8 @ 3200 ISO, half (of the 200 or so) in M mode with exposure bumped up a stop, half in AV. This is my first attempt at non surfing sports photography, and I am falling in love with my 40D. :) Oh and I was behind a chain link fence...its pretty noticeable in the 1st picture. I like to think of it more like X-ray vision though. ;)

Under the lights M mode will be the way to go.

when shooting through the fence - get the end of you lens as close to the fence as possible - this will help

Good luck

I'm struggling with M mode. Trying to frame a nice shot while worrying about whether or not the needle is in the middle is tedious. Practice makes perfect I suppose. I don't have photoshop or noise ninja or anything like that either...guess I better start shopping! Do the batter in the 1st and pitcher in the 2nd seem "sharp"? The runner in the third is pretty soft but I just liked the shot. How can I keep the pitcher in the 2nd photo's face from being so bright, it seems just short of being blown out.
