I am not sure if this is the place for this question...but here goes.

I want to put together a slideshow of some shots for a client's website. The problem is I have NO IDEA how to go about doing so! Do I need a special program for this? I am using an iMac, and currently I have photoshop only on it, no other design programs such as Dreamweaver, go live etc....

This needs to be done ASAP and ugh...I have no idea where to start.

I have no idea if this advice is pertinent to a Mac, but I use Proshow Producer which is easy to use and does a great job. You can also buy Proshow Gold for a very reasonable price and it is also very good.

Here is the link http://www.photodex.com/products/proshowgold/

Thanks Scott!! I asked the same question on a mac forum and have been given some good ideas on tools, but they require knowledge of coding, which I am totally ignorant of. It seems as though this may be a little more complicated than I anticipated.

I will check your link out and see if this works with mac. Another dilemma, I am using a mac and my client is on a pc. She will be the one applying the slideshow into her website, I was just hoping to create one that I could send to her on a disk with other images for her website.

there are several ways to do this:
use flash to create a slideshow (you need flash and need to know how to do it)
use javascript to create the show (you need to be able to write javascript)
create it as an animated gif (it's is a way of doing it)

if i were you I'd give her the picture and let her sort it out, In my experience (as a programmer) what ever you come up with she'll want something different. longer/shorter pause, show controls, bigger, smaller, it takes to long too load, doesn't workin in browser X.

If you go down the road of code, give me a shout and I'll help you out.

sorry, I'm not a flash dev though

pro show is PC only.

I believe imovie/idvd will do it for you.

fotomagico is another option, as is show it web (note this is more for web slideshows, DVD's take a while to get and cost you $$$ to get)

you could use this, it depends on the site layout http://www.stunicholls.com/gallery/photo_click.html

Thanks sooo much for all the input...I am going riding and when I get back I will try to sort all this out. That will give me time to think...and rethink...:lol:

But in everyone's opinion what would be the easiest route to go?? My client is not a programmer either...she is a horse trainer... So her knowledge of coding is right up there with mine...ZILCH!:o

If you have iLife installed (it should have come installed on your iMac) then you can create a slideshow in iPhoto. It's not as sophisticated as other options like FotoMagico but it will get you started with a nice show.

I ended up making one in Lightroom, I have never used that aspect of the program, and it was quite simple. BUT now the question arises if it can be put into my client's website. I have given the slideshow to Scott to see what he thinks and where we go from here.
