This is the first time I have taken music show shots. I must say it was the hardest shots I have taken to date and that includes a Red Sox night game.
The lighting was very bad. Had to push the 40D to ISO 3200 to get 1/100 of a sec. The lens is the 35 1.4L at, you guess it, 1.4. All shot in raw.

I Chimped like I have never chimped before to get the exposure right. ;)

These are the best out of about 500 odd shots. Looking for any and all input.

nice job. looks like you did very well considering the lighting. way to go in not being scared of the 3200, i think it worked well in your advantage. there are a couple of blown highlight and #2 could use a tighter crop. also your blues in the cans could use better pp

but i would say great job for a first time.

haha, TT's has crap lighting for sure. you fared pretty well. you can definitely use a slower shutter speed than 1/100 using a 35mm lens...don't be afraid to shoot at half that.

Thanks all. Very helpful.
Not sure how to deal with the blues in the cans in PP.

what do you use to process them? rené says use DPP. you can tune them a little better with adobe products, but it takes a lot of fine tuning to get it only a little better.

I'm using photoshop elements right now. I tried tweaking it with a red filter and that did deal with the blue but it put more red in the rest of the image then I liked. I might try putting just the blue lights in another layer and apply the red filter that way.

I talked with the guys yesterday and they liked them.

Thanks again.

If you get a chance read the FAQ at the top of the threads in Performing Arts.

Thanks I missed the title part in the FAQ. Thanks.

BTW the FAQ is very helpful. First thing I read before going off to shot this shot. Thanks

Word.

As for the photos, nice job. It was just a year ago when I did my first *official* gig and I remember it well. Keep up the good work.
