Hi all,
I am about to go and purchase a new digi camera,i have had a cheap $100 special for a few months now but now i have some cash so i want a camera i can really use.
I have a m8 who has just bought a PowerShot Pro1,i am interested in one of these or a 10D,But have since found out about the hack for the 300d.What would be the better out of the pro shot and the 10d ?
I like the idea of SLR type camera's for the ability to change lens, but i was told that they don't have a live screen? ie: before a shot you can only use the viewfinder then once the shot is taken you can review it on the screen,is that true for the 10d and 300d ?
I am no expert photographer, but i did study it 10 or so years ago at school and got right into it with my own darkroom and all,i feel now that i would really enjoy a decent camera and get right back into photography,so if i could get some opinions from you folk i'd appreciate it.
thanks for your time.

True. You use the viewfinder to set up the shot, and then you can use the rear LCD screen to review it shortly thereafter.

$2500AUD,but if for starter's,possibly less, and in the future buy some new lenses, ideally i'm thinking of the 300d with the standard lens and upgrade patch, and the money i save on that in 6-12 months buy some different lenses,it's all tooo confusing,i guess what i want to know is the pro's and con's of the 3 different camera's
ie : 10D
300D
POWERSHOT PRO 1
OR ANY OTHER CAMERA'S THAT HAVE THE CAPABILITIES OF THESE 3 ? :?

Let's see :
Canon EOS 300D + kit lens = $880
Canon Normal EF 50mm f/1.8 II = $70
Canon Zoom Telephoto EF 70-200mm f/4.0L = $550
Lexar 1GB 40x CompactFlash Card = $130
Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Camera Backpack = $111
Total = $1741 in USD = $2517 in AUD (the prices are taken from B&H site). This is very nice kit for starters, you may add a spare battery and a flash maybe later.
You will be amazed with the speed, the responsiveness and the lack of noise at hight ISO settings of the 300D, no P&S camera simply doesn't come any near that.

Yep. That's the kit. Or maybe you could get the 10D body... and maybe hack off the kit lens. :)
