it is about $158. The cokin z-pro is only $44. What am I missing here?

It says Lee on it
edit-I'm not happy with the Cokin Z-pro. Vignetting is terrible @24mm w/ 5D. I can't imagine 17 or 16mm. I've never owned the Lee, but if it stays out of the way of my shot, then I'd pay for the name.

yeah, lee is so expensive. You could attach the filter directly to the lens casing with a little piece of Elmer's tack adhesive putty. Total cost is around $3. I'm so cheap. Give it a try, it works well.

I just hold the filter in front of lens with my other hand. I might give your method a shot.

Holder is less than $75. Adapter less than $28. Nowhere near $158

This thread got me thinking a bit and I went to work on my Cokin Z-Pro. Turns out that if I take all but one slot off the front all vignetting is gone. The downside is that I can't stack my GND's but win some lose some right.
I think with only 4x4 filters that you won't be able to arrange the filter as well to your composition. Hitech filters are 4x5 and Lee and Singh Ray make 4x6.

4x6 filters fit in the 4x4 holder. I am not sure what you are saying here.

LOL, the title of the thread called it a 4x4 filter holder, so I assumed that's all it held. My bad.

I like the Lee 4x4 slide in CPL. I haven't seen any vignetting with my setup. Just an fyi.
