this is my first insect, umm... spider photo with my new 40D and my 70-300 is lens.

tripod mounted but the tripod moved when the camera fired every time, so went out and bought a decent tripod this afternoon, but when i got home the wind had picked up so didnt get a chance to re-shoot the spider.
maybe tomorrow.

i am still happy with the photo though (as long as i dont crop to close).

am determined to get this spider as sharp as i can. hopefully it will be around for a while.

C&C welcome.

Absolutely gorgeous shot. It isn't tack sharp. However, I would trade ultrasharpness for the wonderful colors and lines in this picture any day. Good job!

im not sure what kind of spider it is, but we have them all over the place here (brisbane australia)

here is an other one of the same fella, the first was in the afternoon with the sun on his back, this one was taken in the morning with the sun under his belly, preffer the sun on his back.

cant seem to get him any sharper although i shot him using a tripod, is, 2second delay.
but then again i was using my 70-300 wide open and at 300, and also cropped the photo.

Hi, agree with Brian and Dave, the first is wonderful. I like this one as well but prefer the composition in the first.
