Cross processed effects from digital

I don't know if it is called cross processing in the US, but it's simply processing a slide film in normal C41 chemicals, creates vivid, blown out, high contrast shots.

I would like to create a cross processed style image in photoshop, does any one do this on a regualr basis and if so do you have any default workflow?

I can't seem to find an acceptable balance.
