Sorry for breaking the rules, Bruce. I've re-posted a smaller version. BTW, I think it is silly to worry about the minority who can't handle the extra bit of load time (we are talking an additional 20% of wait time) at the expense of everyone else that could view the image at a proper size. Or is it because the image doesn't fit on the screen? Because the original version did. Or am I wrong on both counts and the rule is there simply because it has always been there...?

Well, The rule involves several of the reasons you mention above, and we just want it to be convenient for everybody here. I believe there are people still using dial up as well.
I'm pretty sure that this will probably be readdressed some time in the future, but until then, we work with what we have. :)
