Well, #3 is definately too dark for my liking and the grey ones looks like rocks, so I like the first one best of those. :)

Sorry, Jim, but I don't care for any of the treatments. Further, it is for the same reason on all 4, that is, the blown sky.
BUT, that being said, I know the wondering of which treatment is best, and I suggest that you use all 4 treatments. I did the same thing to great personal satisfaction with a shot of 4 surfboards.

In real life, all 4 treatments were printed onto 8.5 x 11 paper, which was cut down to keep the 2x3 ratio. Then all 4 were matted in one frame. I think that it turned out pretty good, although I got lukewarm reviews of the original shots. So, it is a perfect case of "I like it" and I am happy with the results. So if you like your shot, don't limit yourself to which ONE is best, keep all 4 if it pleases you.
As far as the actual shot goes, I tend to see it as more of an almost panoramic shot, cropped like this:

Either way you go, you have given me a great idea, as I will be staying at a ranch in Wyoming for a week beginning next Sunday.

Actually that is my intention to do a panoramic. The horses almost look like waves to which the washed out sky actually helps the effect I think.I just have'nt cropped yet.Yes I'm actually am drawn to the first picture still. :)

First picture does it for me.
Also, I have to agree with Radtech.......a panoramic crop would give this photo more impact.

Yeah, a differently cropped version of the first one.
