View Full Version : Bag for 40D and ONE mounted lens?

I'd like a bag for my soon to be delivered 40D with one mounted lens. Nothing else needs to go in the bag (except for maybe a spare battery and charger).
The largest mounted lens I'd have in this particular bag would be a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Well, it takes my 5D, 24-70 2.8 and (surprised SuzyView when I told her this) a 580EX, very snugly. See it here (http://www.tiffen.com/displayproduct.html?tablename=domke&itemnum=700-52S).

Actually, I meant is the *bag* too big for just a body & lens?

How about the LowePro Off-Trail? (http://www.lowepro.com/Products/Beltpacks/modular/Off_Trail_1.aspx) I had one many years ago and its brilliant!

Crumpler 4MDH is another option.

I'd go with the Crumpler 6MDH . . . 'cause you know you're going to add more!

Nope. I actually have the 6mdh already... But its too big/bulky for when you only want to take one body and lens.

If you really decded to go with Crumpler xMDH, the mininum size you should get is the 5MHD. It actually very small.

I have a Lowepro Topload Zoom 2, 40D & 17-85mm, spare battery. I use it when I'm walking around sight seeing, tourist shopping, etc. Fits nicely, not too bulky to carry around.

Thinktank holster for sure. I wish I could be disciplined enough to carry just one lens- if I were, I'd use a holster.

THinktank holster. It is the third best purchase I made... behind the 40d and 2.8 lens....

F-5xb. I could actually carry my 30D attached to 70-200 f/4 with hood reversed, and my 17-55 with hood reversed all at the same time. I usually just carried my 30D with 17-55, and the 580 would fit up on top

Really? Are we talking about the same F-5xb?

I use the Nova 2 AW for my 30D and standard zoom lens setup. Fits my 30D, 17-55 and 580EX nicely.. with a little room to spare.

And the Lowepro Stealth Reporter 100 AW is about the same size, with the potential for future growth via external added Lowepro lens cases connected to attachment points on the exterior of the bag.

Another vote for the Lowepro Topload Zoom 2 pack. Very compact and convenient. Protects the camera well. I use it when just cruising around with my walk-around 24-105L. Fits the hood and everything. I not sure if it would fit with the grip though.

I can fit my 30D with the 28-135 IS attached, the Nifty Fifty, my CF card case, and my battery charger in the Crumpler 4MDH. There's no room to spare, but it all fits without any trouble.

I really like my Kata H-14, but looking at that lens, I would say it is too big. Maybe the H-10? Maybe even the SHUTTER M-SNUG-HOLSTER? It is a bit smaller and lighter.

My super tiny bag is a LowePro TLZ-mini toploader. It just barely fits my 30D with 17-50 and hood attached. It might be just a tad small for the 28-75, but the TLZ-1 should be perfect for most lenses. It's great...holds the camera and lens securely, a spare battery and CF card, and that's it. Nice, compact, and easy. I use Domke bags for my other needs, but the small LowePro toploaders are great for single lens use.
