The view looked great until I took a picture of it:) Is there any processing that can be done to salvage it?

Im new to editing and all this photo stuff so someone else may be able to do better but I thought I'd give it a shot! hope you like it. there is a small halo effect around the mountains that I don't know how to get rid of it.
I did some color curve adjustments, added some contrast and color saturation in photoshop elements 5.

Looks like you over exposed the sky. Looks like there is no data in the sky to attempt to recover. Delete it and try again. Next time, cut the shutter speed down to deal with the bright sky, and adjust the aperture to compensate.

An easy fix would be to crop away about 2/3 of the sky. A lot of work could be done to "repair" the sky, but when you do that, it seems to always look repaired if you know what I mean.

Yes; you could save it, but it would take a lot of work. Try reshooting it with a shorter exposure.
breathless_moments, don't edit other's pictures unless the "IMAGE EDITING OK" is displayed by their name.

I was wondering what "IMAGE EDITING OK" meant :) and now that I do, I didn't mind at all. I am learning a lot from posting on this forum and your (meaning all of you out there) comments. I am planning to re-shoot most of my questionable pictures under different conditions, using different accessories or settings and try to post them alongside the "bad" ones to demonstrate my learning (or a lack of it LOL)
