Hello all;
Here is a couple of images from my weekend. Starting on Friday afternoon at Infineon Raceway where Scott Dixon was there for a 1 day preseason test. On Saturday I spent the day with Josh Serne while he aired out his new Honda CRF 150 on his home track. All images were shot with Canon Pro equiptment and the RAW files were processed in Adobe Photoshop Lighteoom. The IRL image was shot F5.6 at 640th. sec. and the bike shot was f4.0 at 320th sec.. The track temp at Infineon was 45 degrees with a 15mph. wind.

I'm #152!! I actually like the dirt being kicked up by the dirt in the first. However, being more partial to cars, the 2nd pic captures my attention more - I like the IRL car more. Like the grass in the foreground and how low you to the ground when you took your shot. I find the signs in the back a little distracting...but that's just my preference.

No comments You guys suck. :D I've SO wanted to say that sometimes when a thread goes to page 2 without any comments! This forum is supposed to be about critiqung the other guys work. 101 people have looked but no comments were left. Actually, no. This is the "Share" section. "Critique" is another area.
Still, it would be nice to get a comment or two, & if you ask for critique, you'll usually get it.

ok - both images appear to have a red hue to them -

the bike shot has too much shadow on the face and the background is very distracting. Watch the sun postion on the rider and if needs be move or adjust your exposure.

your images also appear to be over sharpened / and too much saturation for the size of the image.

try resizing first then fixing the image.

Don't really like the tilt of the IRL shot.. feels unnatural to me.

I guess you have'nt shot at Infineon before. The background for the bike shot is what is there is no changing it as it is next to the barn and that is where the jump is. I should'nt have to ask for a comment. I was asked to join this board and provide positive feedback and I believe I have, unlike some other people who do not even shoot motorsports making comments that are uncalled for and we know who we are . I post images for comments and to be able to show the newbies some of the things that I have learned over the years. If I can help an up and coming photographer than that is what this forum is all about. Here are two more from each of those sessions. If you want to pick it apart feel free. But do it with some courtesy as that is what I would do.

no comments, and you say we suck, we give comments, and we suck again.. you asked to for c&c. I wasn't trying to be rude about it. I just didn't like that there wasn't a single thing horizontal in the shot..personal preference.. I would've just rotated it in PP to get the front lip of the car horizontal in the frame. And no, I haven't personally shot at infineon, but I don't see what that has to do with my opinion on the shot. It was just a critique on the composition. Very sorry if I offended you.. I wasn't trying to be an jerk about it.

I take it you are referring to me. So here goes nope not shot Infineon before. as for the background. hmm could try changing your f stop. may separate the rider from the back ground. and well you did ask for comments and you got them. Hell man you slam the board for not commenting then slam the board for commenting. make up your mind.

I was asked to join this board and provide positive feedback and I believe I have, unlike some other people who do not even shoot motorsports making comments that are uncalled for and we know who we are .

Well positive feedback is good, so is a good strong critique - i offer both. Just as a point of fact i do shoot motorsport and enjoy doing so. I also post my shots here too please feel free to search the forum.

courtesy - hmm thats rich - please let me quote you .. "you Guys suck" hmm very courteous.

as for the two original shots they are not of a high standard and i think you know that.. the next two show improvement but for a seasoned professional motorsport photographer i would expect better. to be honest if i took them they end up on the cutting room floor.

Many thanks

Chris Bennett.

One last comment, & then I think we can just get on with business?

Bell curve? With 120,000+ members, no matter what you do, some will love it, someone will hate it, & some should go out & spend more time shooting & less time talking about it? ;)
