I have an affinity for banded birds. It started because of my hunting background and has carried over into photography. A mallards sitting on a log in nice light is great, but throw on a leg band? My idea of a great picture!

I have seen several posted in the past and I never get sick of them. Here are a few I saw yesterday at a wildlife refuge:

To date, I have a banded gull, pelican, and eagle that were all shot in the wild. I would love to see what others have come up with!!!

OK, I'll play.... In the Veria Wetlands they have two (2) adult Caracara, and one is banded.

Got pics of this one, along with pics of the female and fledgling near their nest, earlier this year, in June 2007. All four of these pics. are of the same Banded Male Osprey.

A Banded Male Osprey captured with the 400mm 5.6L :D

Great idea for a thread. I had an eagle banded with a radio trans. If I can just remember where I put it :)
