I was at my Nephew's 1st football game this weekend. With camera, of course. :)
My sister came up to me after the game, and said the coach's wife wanted to know, if I had any good pictures, she would gladly pay me for copies of them.
I'm not looking to make money, but I don't want to give anyone shoddy photos either. I took ~ 150 pictures, but narrowed it down to 20.
Can anyone look HERE (http://mysite.verizon.net/vze75feo/Portfolio/Bulldogs/index.html), and tell me if any of them are something they wouldn't be embarassed to give to someone?
If you like any, could you post which ones?
thank you so much.

Which lens were you using? The 80-200?

Sadly, yes.
I was planning on running around the sidelines, but right before the kickoff, they kicked us camera folk to the bleachers. :x

Hey B1B, any idea on what happened to TOF? (the "other" one. Not the other one) :)

Take this with a grain of salt, I'm a complete amateur.
I don't like the pictures because I have to 'hunt' for the ball. I think that in football pictures,
1) the ball (or the ball carrier) should be the focus of the shot. In most of your pictures I have to search to even find the ball.
2)any other action shot of football should clearly define the struggle portrayed. For example, you have several shots of the two lines going at it, I think it would be much more interesting to see a closer zoom (or crop) of two opposing players and their facial expressions.
You were probably hampered by a short lens and being relegated to the stands. I'll be watching for next week's game pictures!

Dunno, I've been out the majority of the day. We're getting what's left of Frances starting to roll through here and it's starting to flood so I was helping my grandfather finish a retaining wall he's been working on. I just noticed it was down a few mins ago but Hoenle is telling me it's been down all day.

The Dude,
Thank you. I posted in this forum hoping for complete honesty.
I appreciate your candor.
I'll work on your suggestions for next week's game. :)
Thanks again

I love the critique forum. I come here specifically because I want to see examples, both good and bad, of other's work and the advice others have. This is the first time I've ever offered advice, mainly because I am a complete noob when it comes to photography.
However, I completely enjoy sports photography in general and football in particular. After years of playing the game and many more years reading about it (and looking at the pictures) I feel like I have a decent understanding of what 'makes' a good sport shot.
I suggest www.sportsshooter.com. Those guys are pros and have AWESOME advice on shooting good sports pictures.
Maybe one of these days I'll have a pic or two to throw up here and see what others think. Too bad I haven't come up with any good ones yet!
