Dam I think Im hooked. Club meet at Pukekohe on Sunday.
Am I capturing the action correctly? Any advice would be great
Shot with 1Dmk2 and 300F2.8. I do find that sometimes I wish I was using a zoom.
My only coment re Superbikes is trying t get a different "look" does anyone use shorter lens and what are the results like i.e 24-105L range.
Yes I am aware of saftey issues :)

probably sounds odd, but for some reason I prefer seeing the bike coming towards me rather than seeing it going away. To get a closer shot you might have to set up camera on a mini-tripod with remote shutter...

these are nice shots both ways , as for capturing the action correctly everyone likes different views , your doing really good , forget the shorter lens not unless you want to get on the track with the bikes , i have the 24-105 never used it for bikes too short mate look around the forum there are some good shots here , create your own style shot what appeals to you go from there , i am no expert but look on my web i have a few bikes on there

I would agree that youre off to a good start. You are not a photo newbie so all the stuff you already know applies, In terms of capturing the action correctly - that is hard to define. Mnay might think it's deeper lean angles with knees on the ground others might say a wheelie is the only shot to have. I think you are right on about the speedo... those are coveted shots in many circles. Something that can really make a dramatic image is super slow shutter speed panning... tough to get the result but great when they work.
I cover a lot of bikes as you might imagine from a web site called SuperBikePhoto.Com :-)

Wow, that's a rare pic to have -- The rider is looking at you -- haha, rule #1 of riding is look where you are going, or you CRASH!
I personally like number 1 better -- Normally I like the bikes on the side during turn or in the position of #2, Good shots
Tad off topic -- Do you ask permission before shooting the club guys?

The shot where the speedo is showing, I was standing on top of a large tire looking down.
A lot of the bike shot I see look all the same and I guess that is to be expected. Im wanting to think out side the norm

Well you're right often repetitive subjects look.. well repetitive. If you want to get something that doesn't look like everything else look for angles, crops, lighting and post processing that will give you that difference. There certainly isn't a formula for it.
Here is a speedo shot I recently posted in another thread which takes into account the above,
