Todays rumor is Canon is going to release an EOS 7D http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=91085

I'm not sure about this one. IMO, it doesn't make much sense. But what do I know...

Read it FM, that took me to DPreview (i nearly stopped there) where i was then taken to another thread at DPreview, then another thread on another site where the guy said he got it from a japanese site...and that his japanese isnt very good.

Chinese friend working for Xinhua news agency told me he read large spread about the coming 7D. The price of the 5D decrease to 2000 dollars last week in prevision of the launch of the 7D (first quarter of these year).
From what he told me they spoke about 13,3 millions pixel sensor. 1/4000 s speed max. full frame of course. And that's all for now.

I guess that makes sense, but I was thinking about an even closer relationship with a 1.3x crop factor, weather sealed for the sports guys, and maybe even 6-7fps with an advanced focus system. I bet they could do all that but the issue is ef-s lens owners not wanting to upgrade. The 5d is a big jump from aps-c but 1.3x isn't as much...seems like they need an aps-c camera that will beat the d200 while keeping it separate from the X0d cameras. I wonder if they could figure out a way to make an ef-s lens fit on a 1.3x camera therefore giving both options...I highly doubt they would actually go through the trouble though

I'm more than happy with my 5D and the thought of spending out huge amounts of money on incremental upgrades doesn't fill me with joy.

I'll think I'll hang on until we get to 20+ mega pixels.

I am not so patiently awaiting the sucessor to the 1DS MII and I was going to get a 5D as a lighter backup, now you got me all excited about the 7D.

Well, that prediction is from 2004, so I'm willing to guess that it would have came out by now - IF it was going to come out at all.

you do realize that you have brought up a rumor that is 3.5 years old right? although I am inclined to believe that we are closer to the release of an upgrade to the 5d, I am trying to stay out of the speculation.
