Surfs Up!

Haven’t been on this forum for quite a while. Super busy with weddings ( www.danpettusproofs.com/finneran www.danpettusproofs.com/sunny …). Booked just about every weekend! But, the weather and surf is just too good this weekend. So I grabbed one of the MK IIs and spent a few hours shooting just for fun:

Nice surf shots with one of the 1D Mk II's. So let's see, a 1ds, and multiple Mk II's... I think you've come quite a ways from the D60, huh? :wink:

Yep. Minnie still here in the studio for light balance and dynamic range test shots. The wedding business has been wonderful. The D60 in use as a backup and takes magnificent images. I use a second photographer at events and weddings so two MK IIs work out the best. 1Ds stays in the studio and simply cannot be beat for image quality. And, we’re having fun!

nice shots! I have recently jumped into wedding photography as well. I'd be interested in talking more with you about it when I have more time. PM me if you're interested.

Also, the surf shots are great. Being an ex-surfer myself...you should somehow get connected with the locals and post a link to those shots. I can almost promise you there will be surfers buying those shots from you. Now, living away from the ocean I only get the wake-surf and wakeboard.... your shots make me long for a real wave so much it hurts! :cry:

Every time I want to comment on the surf photos I change my mind because people already said how great they are. Well, I have to get it out of my system: the surf photos are more than great IMO, they are awesome (to borrow 80's surfers lingo).

I consider myself pretty fortunate starting a new photography business after being out for so many years. The computer geek inside woke up the passion and enthusiasm for this art-form when digital hit the scene. I can’t believe how much the basic fundamentals remain the same from 30 years ago. All that college money didn’t go to waste! Thanks for the kind comments on the images. We have done well with our wedding customers and they are referring so many new clients it’s hard to keep up. That looks like it was a fun wedding to shoot. I noticed in one photo the Bride had Her dear uncle "Jack" with her. :wink:
