First of all, why is PSE 6 always crashing? Is it a program problem, is your computer up to date? Before any upgrade you need to figure that out. Lightroom is a resource hog.

Next, do you do a lot of post work on your photos. Clone, heal, mask, extract, etc? I have found that LR is more of a library, organizer than a post processing program. It has the basics for post work and of course ACR which is excellent for Raw. For any serious post work you will need photoshop.

Lightroom has a 30 day trial, down load it and see if it works for you. Many people on the forums have great success with it.

Lightroom/CS3 giveACR (Adobe Camera RAW) more features. I do 95%+ of my wedding post processing in ACR (ie lightroom or Bridge), so I disagree it's not made for post processing. You can do basic spot removal in the latest version of ACR, good B&W/sepia conversions, exposure, color, and just about every other basic correction that's needed.
