I'm trying to photograph products for my website with as white a background as possible. I've bought an EzCube and two lights with daylight bulbs in them. I have a Canon digital Ixus 330 and I've set the custom white balance with the product in the EzCube and the lights switched on. I've tried the lights in lots of different positions and my background is more grey/blue than white. If my website theme was grey/blue it would look ok, but the theme is brown/pink so it doesn't look right.

Do you think that the camera is at fault (I've also tried the daylight white balance) or should I try brighter lights - if so, what kind (I'm photographing things that could melt).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Try moving one of the lights to partially cover the back. You should still get enough reflections to bounce around inside, but might have to play with the other light to get shadows correct. A 3rd background light - even a small lamp with a daylight bulb - would help a lot.

You might also try a piece of brown/pink paper - one matching the color of your site - behind the product. This might give you a easily cut background giving a halo that matches the website. However, it also might reflect a color cast on the inside of the cube, though.
