Went up to Bulcher Texas over the weekend to cover the Red Bull Last Man Standing. This grueling endurance race is billed as the toughest races in the United States
Last Years winner David Knight catching some air off one of the jumps

Young Polish rider, Taddy Blazusiak who not only won the Erzburg race in Austria, which is the toughest race in the World, took the crown as the best enduro rider in the world when he won this years race

Of the 100 riders to qualify, only 3 made it to the night race and only two crossed the finish line

awesome, how did you like it? Looks like Knight was finally defeated too.
I went to video it last year and it actually was snowing. Looks like the weather was better this year. Very cool!

It was probably one of the coolest events we've ever been to. Some of the areas the riders were climbing was very hard to hike up to get to our spot to photograph. I cant imagine being able to ride about 90% of the track!
I was talking to a few of the other press photographers while we were waiting for the riders to get to our area, and one guy had flown in from Europe and had also covered the event last year.
He siad that the photography crew had only brouhgt winter gear this year, and Friday during qualifying Texas broke record highs with temps in the high 80's!
Race day it was back to December weather with fog, rain and temps back down in the 40's.
Yeah, David Knight had phenomia coming into the event, but still qualified and raced right up till within a few minutes of the end of the night race, but he started pukeing over the handlebars and had to stop.
Erzsberg will be very interesting next year and since this was the last year in Texas, it'll be interesting to see where next years Last Man Standing will be held.
Thanks for looking

Here a a few shots I took with my Canon S1 IS at the Triple Threat. The #9 rider is about ready to give up after trying to drag his bike over a rock ledge. He teams up with another rider and they get both their bikes over the obstacle. They shake hands and ride off, blissfully unaware that the next hill will be even harder. The last shot, taken with my phone after my camera quit working, shows a different approach to the same ledge.

This was an amazing event; I'm sad to hear that it won't be at Bulcher next year.

That last shot reminds me of the way that Geoff Aaron got his KTM Christinni up on the top of Triple Threat!

This is a difficult event to photograph. You only get one chance at each section to get the top riders then you have to rush to the next section and hope you beat the riders there!
Any word on this event being televised?
Here is a youtube video of the rider launching his bike in my photo:

Also, are the first 3 photos I posted too large? If so I'll scale down future postings.

Erzburg is considered the hardest in the world, Last Man Standing is considered the hardest in the United States
