Hi, i'm looking into getting a widescreen monitor for my PC, and was originally looking to pick up an apple 23" lcd, but i also started looking in to other options. Here's one that looks good on paper (HP L2335)

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/monitors/tft/l2335.html

anyone have any experience, or know anyone who has had experience with one of these? It's kinda tough, cause they're only available via order, so i can't walk in to a store to check one out. I'll be using it mostly for photo editing and web surfing, so my biggest question is how good is the image quality and how true are the colors? Speed isn't TOO big of a factor, since i won't be gaming, although i wouldn't want something that blurs just when watching a DVD. Any info would be great. THANKS!

Mike

ps. also another thing that attracts me to this monitor is that it's able to be turned to portrait orientation! hehe

I'm not a big LCD fan when it comes to working on my image files.. but you'd be hard pressed to find a better one.

The LCD screen is made by the same company that makes the LCD for the Apple Cinema display. (LG Electronics) ..which is one the more highly regarded large panel LCDs out there. So if ypu want to go LCD this is a good choice.

I will only breifly toss in my 2c regarding LCDs for image editing.. and I am aware that it will draw flame from LCD users.. so No need!

For Image editing CRT is still preferable. A 21" (or larger) Aperure grill CRT is the best platform IMHO for image editing.. I like Sony.

yeah, i know that CRTs are better, but i just don't have the room for it what so ever, and being a college student i can't afford to buy a new desk also, let along spare any more space in my tiny apartment, haha, so LCD is pretty much prime choice for me right now.

I have the Sony equivalent (23" widescreen 1920 x 1200 resolution) and I love it. I would certainly check it out against the hp model.

The big plus in photshop is that the wide aspect allows you to put all of the menus/palettes onscreen out of the way of the picture you are editing.

I trialled it against a 21" Sony flatscreen CRT and to be honest I preferred the additional contrast of the CRT but it was marginal to say the least and when you then take on the desk space saving then the CRT won the day plus you can watch widescreen DVD's on it.

If you are going that route you do need a decent graphics card!
