What a pain! Thursday I get the camera, Friday the SanDisk 1X 256mb hits a bad sector and locks the camera up in the middle of a block party. Next day I get an external reader, save the pics, reformat the card, and am looking forward to returning the card in the next few days.

But while we're on the subject, is there any advantage to hooking up the camera and letting ZoomBrowser do the work, vs. using the external reader and copying over to my hard drive?

Thanks,

Shakes

Don't hook up your camera to the computer for downloading photos. One trip over the USB cable and your camera could be toast.

What did you do to the CF card to prepare it for use?

For example, did you do a quick format in the camera? Did you to a complete format in the computer? Did you do anything to prepare it?

What indication did you get that the CF card hit a bad sector?

What camera?

I once thought that this is hogwash, how could i be so careless with my $1000 camera. THen one day i forgot it was there because of how long it took to transfer. Lucky for me it landed on some towels i had sitting on the floor. But it was that week i went out and got the card reader.

I've never even considered using a camera to pc cable. Why do that when you have a 9 in 1 card reader? :? Is it not faster, too?
