View Full Version : POTN G-series Speed Challenge -- Silence

And the winner is... marie, for "the silence of the dead."

I could feel the stillness within this shot. I usually don't like graveyard shots (they're hard to do without shooting a cliche) but the quality of the light, fog, and dew (or frost?) on the grass elevates this image to something more ethereal. I also like the negative space in the center of the photo, which captures the concept of silence. Nice work! Did you do much processing, or did the light look this way?

Honorable Mentions:

Nice lines: nutsnbolts - untitled
Top titular tongue-twister: MegaTrixel - The Silent Slime of a Sitka Slug
Best creative interpretation: IainB - Silence of the Lamb

Thanks for playing! Happy Holidays. -- Kimmer

Challenge #149 - Silence

I didn't do anything with the photo except levels to even out shades
that day was very very heavy frost. its almost nicer then snow as one can get around better when travelling or walking
the place is across the mountains . the whole place looked magical and the camera loved it
a red robin stayed on a branch long enough for me to 'shoot' him a few times.. (it was freezing hard, probably too cold to move much)
but then hopped along the path , flitting up into the branches and coming down.. keeping up with me as I walked along
any birds I saw looked so cold
but he came out beautifully in the shots... in the frosty atmosphere surrounding him
the place is beautiful in every season but that day ( I don't think )will be seen again ........the frost and mist made the magic even more alive

Thank you for the honorable mention and many thanks also for judging Kimmer.

Splendid capture Marie!! What a peaceful place for one's final rest. Congrats too for your published photo!

I had a nice chuckle with IanB's Silence of the Lamb, and I enjoyed Maureen's Solitude. Though I haven't mentioned them all, I thought all the entries were nicely done.

I'll try to particpate more often, though my G3 is barely holding together with tape and bubblegum.

Please have a happy and safe holiday everyone!
