this concluded my 3 gig in six days stint @ the roxy...i was shooting this for the big takeover (http://www.bigtakeover.com), and interviewed Emma post-soundcheck / pre-gig as well...good stuff! due to that, i was able to land balcony access for this show which was nice.

I have seen a lot of progression in your photos over the past year. One question, how do you keep up with the day job! Out all night at shows, editing...
Just kidding, nice work!

Nice!
#1 is great, hard to get shot, the whole band is in frame, lit, positioned, and focussed well. And #6, again love the tight b+w shots!

i was just about to say the same thing. you get better every time you shoot and you shoot so damn much. i used to think i saw a lot of music, but you are still going as strong as i ever did. i slowed down a lot when i met my wife, and aren't you married with child(ren)?
1, 2, 6 stand out as the strongest to me. your b/w conversions are great! are you using any actions for conversions, or any spacial tricks?

heh, thanks Joe! october in particular was crazy...i think i hit 10 or so shows in that month, and was literally too tired to see The Saints when they made a very rare US appearance on Nov 1st.
Nice!

thanks rckcrlr; actually, i missed the other keyboardist in shot #1. it was hard to get everyone in the shot w/ so many people on stage! i am very glad i had balcony access for the soldout show, since there was no photo barrier and it was *jammed*.

thanks michael! i've got a very understanding wife, and her take is that usually if there is a show i'm going to, the kids are already in bed, so it's not a big deal.
for the b/w, i started out w/ using channel mixer + monochrome, and then switched over to using the Gorman b/w conversion action (http://www.prophotoresource.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=9&d=1160806564) but lately i've been doing close to 100% of my post-processing in ACR 4/CS 3. the added controls and functionality are a big step up from ACR 3/CS 2, and i highly recommend it. it actually does a good in auto greyscale, and you've got the sliders like the channel mixer for fine tweaks.
i'll never get to kalle's or rené's skill w/ photoshop, so i don't mind not using PS unless i really need to.
