Heron gets in the way

Now I'm not a bird photographer at all, but couldn't resist catching this guy as he interrupted whilst I was setting up for a nice dawn frosty landscape shot. No doubt someone will know what sort of bird it is - some sort of blue heron?

Shot near Guildford in the UK by the way. Chuffing cold it was too.

Ah thanks - that'll explain why it's all grey coloured then. Makes sense.

I saw at least 5 of them along this 1-mile stretch of the River Wey so if anyone wants grey herons you cant go wrong. They seem to get spooked easily, my shot was just luck as the bird flew along the river towards me then, when it spotted me, it reared up into the sunlight and turned round.

They're both really nice - love the light on the heron in the 1st one. That 2nd shot is also terrific - the light, the steam or fog off the river, and the trees - nice setting (too bad the bird ruined it :)).
