Should I buy that 5D now or right after the holidays?
When and where is that trade show that you'll have mentioned?

The Photo Marketing Association, (PMA) holds a major show every spring. This is where the manufacturers usually unveil their new products. The 2008 show will be held March 2nd, in Las Vegas.

What's your reasoning of wanting to wait for right after the holidays? I dont know if the price will bottom out anymore than it has. But yes, PMA is held each year and a new model *could* be released. We're all waiting.
If you have waited this long for a 5D, you may as well wait another 2-3 months.

I don’t see why camera prices would drop after xmas. Maybe after the new 5D replacement is announced and the market floods with folks trying to dump theirs, but not xmas. I would get it now. Prices are really low already and there are some deals to be had out there. Go for it.

If I needed/wanted a camera, I see no reason to wait until after Christmas. It's not likely at all that DSLR prices will drop.

Mark III looks interesting too, looking to be adopted.

I would personally wait. I certainly will wait to see if there are any problems reported with the new 5D. It usually takes a couple of months for the whining, er, complaining, er reports of problems to come to light. I was one that ran out to get the new Mark III and now it is sitting waiting for a phone call and a UPS sticker.
