I waited a week to get low tide on my lunch time at work to get these shots. I was only looking to get the photo with the anchor but found myself snapping away.
I see this stuff often. My wife liked many of the photo's I would never have picked so I need to ask others opinions.
Guys at work gave me puzzled looks when they saw me with a camera wandering the mucky shore of the Fraser River.

Hey Colin,
I'd say the two most visually interesting shots are numbers 1 and 6. They each have a main focus that draws attention, while some of the others leave the eye to wander aimlessly.
Too bad the anchor couldn't have been a little redder. Maybe punch up the saturation? Oh, and have you considered going for a close shot of the thing? Might have some interesting texture or curves...
Just my 2 cents. :)

I really like the footprint picture, although it seems that the shot has an overexposed sky. If it is over cast / cloudy then its really good. Also, that could be a really cool B&W shot.

I recommend a polarizing filter, and also would like to see some macro shots of the anchor.

Yes, a polarizing filter is definately what I need. The over exposed sky is really dissapointing. The best I can do right now is to try my sunglasses.
Can anyone tell me what pics are keepers? I don't plan on keeping this gallery. It was just formed for feedback.

The keeper may be 6. It has great left to right, bottom to top flow -- thanks to the diagonal of the sun, and the somewhat matching shadow mass of the rubber tires, et al. This image"s sweet spot is its dollop of sun-lite grasses.
Others images may lack beautiful light, great compositional potential, strong colors, and deep shadows. They may not shout out; “Hey this a great and photogenic place to be”.
But, I am not super keen on flotsam. However related shots are great -- if your intention was to report to us on the realties of life along a large and busy commercial river.
Why not post one or two of your own picks from your next set and tell us what you were up to ?
