This is my first post in far too long.
I love the velvetine texture and the unusual series of rings inside this flower. I have not ben able to ID it yet but I believe it is a caralluma. For a flower in the stapelia family, it did not smell too bad at all.
This is a stack of 32.

Great shot Irwin. The bud in the foreground really adds to the picture. I like the colors and good job stacking that many pics.

Thanks Linda. I raised this plant since it was tiny and had a number of flower buds that withered without actually flowering. So far this has been the first and only. Thank you for writing.

Very unusal flower nicely done.
Care to share how you did 32 stack? Meaning took 32 shot and stacking it.
so in term that you have moved the focus ring in 32 incerment steps?
Just guessing.
well done once again.

Only 32 stacks, Irwin? I'm disappointed :) Lovely shot - nice colours, love the OOF background, good composition as well. And of course, sharp. Pretty flower and highly appropriate for this time of the year.
Very good to see you back posting.

I think you got the gist of it. My camera was tripod mounted. I started with the nearest edge, focused on it then snapped the shutter. Then a nudged the focus ring a bit and took the next incremental shot and kept on going until I focused my way through the flower. I used Helicon to compile the individual slices into a single composite image.
I hope that explained it.
Thanks for taking the time to look and comment.
