It picks up the horizontal aspect of the wing.

That is an interesting look. One of the most interesting features of this shot imho, is looking almost straight down on the box cars and long shadows. It gives me the feeling that I am "hanging in space".

Yeah - I agree. That was the one thing I didn't like about my suggestion, but the wing sticking out didn't really balance with the rest of it too well. It's a tough one to make work as far as total composition.
