Hi,
I just wanted to say Hi, and ask a few questions. I have been lurking on here for the last month or so and have to say the information on this site is the most helpful out there. I am just starting to get into photography and have been looking to buy a DSLR. Will probably pick one up in the next month. I wont go into the whole question of to get a 20D or 10D thing it has been played to death. I see the different camera's out there and wonder what is a good price on the 10D. I was looking at a 10D and then they had the press release of the 20D and then it changes my whole thinking pattern. But I have come back to my sences and decided to go back to the 10D. I know the 20D is probably the camera to have in the future but just getting into it I think I can use the extra money on better glass. Sorry to run on with my typing but what is a good price on a 10D. I know Circuit city has one for $1259 on there website. Do you think the price will drop anymore or should I buy now before they are gone?

Again the website is great and probably the best out there. When I decide on buying something I usually do extensive research, but my coffee table can not support another magazine so I would love your opinons.

If you want a NIB (new in box) 10D, you better get it soon as Canon does not manufacture them anymore. Either that or it's bargain time on a used one and hope you get what's advertised.

Until the 20D hits the shelves the 10D still remains the best rated prosumer dSLR on the market. It's an awesome camera and in my case, it has paid for itself several times over in sales.

Of course the 10D is the best dSLR on the market. Of course until itself hits the shelves...again? :P

You know that saying that everyone loves a smart*ss?

They're lying.

Welcome to the forum Keith!

Yes the 10D is a great prosumer camera. No doubt about it. However, I don't think you are going to save enough on the price difference between it and the 20D to afford that much better glass. I'd suggest leaving your senses again and think about that 20D AND save up for killer glass. If the specs on the 20D are anywhere near what Canon is touting, it's going to be worth it. I wouldn't suggest that everyone with a 10D run out and upgrade, but if you don't already have a dSLR, the 20D looks like a good enough upgrade to be worth waiting for.

In addition to what MediaMagic said, the 20D will last longer until it becomes "outdated".

Check www.pricegrabber.com.

And cross reference the seller on www.resellerratings.com.

Oh, and welcome to the forum. Hope you'll have a most pleasant stay.

Don't worry about the glass. Get the 20D and a pinhole lens if you have to...

... or 50/1.8 and be happy. Then buy better glass.

Thanks for the welcome. Of course the 20D is tempting because they do have packages(20d and lens). I am sure I will make the right decision. I don't think I can go wrong. I am just starting but everytime I get some thing new I always put hours and hours into it, so I just want good equipment. It is not just the equipment but the user I know this. Maybe closer to when the 20D comes out I can compare the two. And if the 10D is not around then I guess my decision would be made.

Once again I have to say this site rocks.
