Trusty #33. Bottom view of a bottle of miniature shells and pink "sand." Comments encouraged.

Ooooh! Very nice, Mitch. Could use a teeny bit of sharpening but otherwise it's perfect. Yowza!!

nice picture. I can see how there is a focusing issue with that subject. I like it though, nice job

It is beautiful. Without the raised numerals, I would not have known that I was looking at a glass container. My eyes pop up over the pink sand (such a nice shaft of light here) and follows along the diagonal of in-focus shells out to the golden glass/reflection. Next I move to the light reflection topside and on to the shells deeper in jar.
It might have been interesting to see what the view is like without these extra shells. Not sure.

Thanks, y'all!
Clio: I agree it needs to be a little crisper. Will do.
Brutal: Regarding focus, in hindsight I should have gone for a bit more DOF. Re-checked my settings and I had it in 'P' mode which picked a wide open aperture. Next time I will try Av and stop it down. Live and learn.
Howie: Thanks for commenting in such exquisite detail. That reaction was exactly what I was going for. (Yeah, sure. :) ) Your idea is indeed interesting, but one that can never really be tested. There are over a hundred mini shells in the little 3-inch tall bottle, and it took many minutes of twisting, turning and tapping just to get something that looked reasonably usable. The positioning of the shells and sand is thus random and totally beyond my control (which made the subject appealing to me in the first place.) Oh, I guess I could crack it open and set up a shot, but my daughter would not be happy about that...
