Just a quick question.

Do you use the matte black ink or the glossy black ink with ilford smooth pearl, cheers:)

I think that depends entirely on your printer and whether it uses both inks.
The way that you should handle things is to install the right ICC profile for the paper and have Photoshop manage colors. Check the ILFORD site for any other printer set-up requirements -- it will be given in a pdf file in the same zip file as the profile. Once set up, the decision on what ink to use is then made by the print routine. I suspect that arbitrarily substituting a matte black ink for normal black will only produce poor results, especially on glossy or semi-glossy paper.

cheers guys, it will be for a r2400 im getting some Epson UltraSmooth Fine Art Paper so will be using the matte black for that , and i dont want to keep changing iks so might just get some Ilford Inkjet Smooth Fine Art Paper as well then so i dont have to change inks
