Hi, I was just at a baseball game last night shooting pictures with my 300D, and everything seemed to work fine. Then I came home and was messing around with some long exposures with a friend, and then all the sudden the camera seemed to stop working properly. I usually shoot in Tv or Av mode, but these modes wouldn't let me adjust the exposure at all any longer. I tried M mode, and the same thing happened. In each of the modes, the internal flash would always try to pop up -- why would this happen in M mode?

The other thing I noticed was that the beeper icon (had to look up what that icon was) is always displayed now. My friend has a G5 and he's got the remote control for it, which seems to also work with my camera.. could that be why the beeper icon is on? Any idea why I can't adjust exposure in any of the manual modes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

-Mike

Wild guess here, but did you happen to enable the 2-second timer mode? Try One-Shot or Continuous instead?

Hm, well I'm not sure. If I remember correctly, I was trying the timer button (on top near shutter button) and it would just switch between One-shot and timer modes. Didn't seem to go to high-speed/multishot mode. That's also kind of strange, but anyway, that button didn't seem to fix anything.

try resetting the camera..

Take the battery out and right in the compartment is a CMOS battery. remove that one for about 1min then put it back in and turn on the camera.

I had the same problem with my 300D a few months ago; I tried resetting the camera to default, and replacing the battery, also tried a different card, camera would not focus with any lens either.
Pop up flash kept coming up whenever I replaced the battery also got an error message 99.
I sent it back to Canon UK under warranty, after nearly two months I got it back, with the repair slip quoting PCB repair.
Hope you have better luck than I did.
