Well yesterday December 15, 2007 was the first time I've ever photographed a wedding. It was quite an adventure starting from reading a lot about weddings and trying to work out the whole low light issue. The wedding I photographed was my cousin luis and his wife perla. It had its ups and downs, but overall I really enjoyed photographing there special event. Let's begin the day started at around 7am and ended like around 10pm now I know why professional photographers charge so much, and I now know what they go threw to photograph weddings. At first I thought I was just going to takeout my camera and snap away but soon realized that there is more to it then that. As a photographer you have deal with the light issue, composition of the pictures, and way of being creative during the ceremony and the reception to come up with good picture ideas, and the gear is also heavy to carry around LOL. I think i took about 600 pictures at this wedding, I'm looking forward to seeing the results when I get some time to edit them hopefully soon. Over all I think I did pretty well at this wedding as amateur photographer I know there is a long road ahead to become good photographing weddings and am looking to get there in the near future. But for now I'm ready to sleep since I have to work at my real job tomorrow :(
Oh and i only had one week to prepare for this wedding, and i did as a gift to the couple!

Any C&C is welcome :)
Here some i edited real quick tonight!

Some decent images but the color is way off. Please check your WB and color space.

Some nice images, but I hope you shot in RAW. You'll want to crop a lot of these also. Good luck with your PP!

Lots of yellow. Also, these photos look like they could've been done with a simple P&S. Sorry if it's a bit harsh.

EDIT: Nevermind! It was shot with a P&S!

I hope so too... The WB is off, and it really hinders the shots. If you have the images in RAW, you can fix that up. As it currently stands, it's too yellow and drab and looks a bit de-saturated as well.

EDIT: Nevermind! It was shot with a P&S!

what is P&S ?

I would also suggest watching your backgrounds.

well the reason the backgrounds are like that is cause it was the only place we could take the pictures since it was like 28 outside and windy and no one wanted to take pics in the cold. So i went with the best place which was the armory where they had the reception.

I hope so too... The WB is off, and it really hinders the shots. If you have the images in RAW, you can fix that up. As it currently stands, it's too yellow and drab and looks a bit de-saturated as well.

yeah im going to do this tommorrow thanks for the advice everyone i really appreciate it :)

transam - just a few pointers...
People have already discussed your WB issues, easily fixed in your RAW program! I have only just started using RAW properly after i found out i had a good program on my pc this whole time lol
BUT...just some on the posing shots...get up close, shoot the B&G from above focusing on their faces only, this way backgrounds wont be such a problem. See below:

http://adellecousins.smugmug.com/photos/231539399-M.jpg

Just try and get your subjects to really get in close...

I noticed you asked what a P&S was - its a point n shoot camera

I hope this helps for your next one?

Did you take any photos outdoor at all????

All the photos posted are indoor 8 & 10 i would have shot outdoor and cant understand why you did them here (unless it was raining)!

It looks like that you need alot more practice indoor & shooting with flash.

As its your first wedding you did ok, just practice alot before you do anymore weddings & maybe try to work with another photog for a while.

Well we didn't take any pictures outside because it was around 31 degrees outside and snowing, so the bride didn't want to get cold or the bridesmaids, so we just did those pictures inside. I did plan to take those pictures outside but mother nature didn't cooperate, and old man winter took over lol and one more thing im new to this abrebiation what does this mean photog ?

I used a Rebel Xti, with the Promaster 15-50mm F2.8 as the main lense!

transam if you are using auto mode your photos will come out quite point and shoot, get out your rebel manual, and go through it a few times, google and ask on here if you don't know. Try setting a goal of using Manual mode - even if you are just taking candids of the family around Christmas - this really helps when you can control everything in your camera - your photographs will come out a lot better :)
I am not sure why it says that you used a canon powershot...but if you need advice on anything just ask and the only way we can help is if you are truthful in the way you have taken the shot :)

Photog is just short for Photographer!

Have a look around your area for one & ask if you can go along to a few weddings with them.
