  If that's true then I guess you'll be able to hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from certain 300D/dRebel owners on the moon

Not me, I couldn't care less about the color. Its just a silly idea some people have that the color matters. I bet the silver body can take just as good photos as the black body.
But they could have included the battery grip in the kit when I bought my 300D :(

I used to agree about the colour not being important.
But, I get quite a few stares and comments about the rebel, especially with the grip attached. I often wonder if a black camera would attract less attention. It almost seems that to the average joe, silver means expensive, while with photographers it's the opposite.

Hey.. you wouldn't have to spend $1500.00 on a 20D!

I just bought a 300D today and the last thing on my mind was the colour of the body.
Besides, SLRs should be silver and black. Most of the older Canon, Nikon etc. SLRs were black with silver around the pentaprism and top of the body.

Hehe the 2 times a person approached me and asked about my camera it was not due to the color but the batterygrip - wondering if it was worth getting. Obviously I said yes get one immediately

I doubt that is real. Why would Canon offer a kit that includes the battery grip only on the 300D and not on the 20D?
On the other hand, my silver 300D takes the same pictures as the black one.

Plus if you look at the picture closely, the 18-55 lens is the USM version. I would think that if this was a legitamate package they would mention something about the USM version.

Actually the existence of the black Kiss Rebel with USM lens has been known for a while to be available in Japan. What we are all doubting is legitimacy of the package listed in the link of your original post and if it is available in Europe or US

First Japan, then Europe....................South America next? hehe
BTW, add me to the club of people who hate silver on a camera unless it's a Leica or something made in the 70's
