Hi, my first C&C, all comments welcome. I would like to enlarge this photo of my 7 week old (#3) and cant decide on colour or B+W. Also if there is any PP adjustments you can suggest - cropping, colour, vignetting? etc would be appreciated.
Thanks

I retouch product photos for a living so I'm no expert on people but both photos look a little bit grainy to me. Could you run some sort of noise reducer?
That being said, I prefer the B&W image. Cute baby!!

Such a cutie! Honestly, usually I love B&W, but in this case I like the color better. I think those gorgeous blue eyes and red hair needs to be seen. :D

I agree. The eyes are what caught my attention. So big and such a beautiful color.

can you keep the color of the eyes, but make the rest of it B&W? That might look very nice (I love his blue eyes)

Thanks for the suggestion Tumeg, here is an update. BTW, its a she, but I probably should have said that first.:)Her older sister and brother just love her to bits!
And thanks to all for your kind compliments.

I still prefer the color one for the same reasons I said earlier :D.

wow... I LOVE the B&W with blue eyes.... AMAZING!
I can't think of anything else I would change... it looks incredible,
Maybe add some more selective color? IDK what with... maybe her shirt\dress? or her lips... I really looks amazing

I vote color. beautiful eyes
selectively sharpen eyes and dodge them a little
If you go bw, dont do selective color. Its a very rare instance that it works, and this is not one. during your bw, use a filter close to blue, so the pupils are not so black.
very cute kid, and congratulations.

Kevindar, thanks for the feedback. I lightened the eyes, but wasn't sure what you meant about the blue filter, so added a blueish version as well.

and cant decide on colour or B+W. I'm liking the NN version, but it looks a touch over saturated to me. Why make this hard, David? make one of each. ;)

lightening the eyes now works much better for me, and I like the bw version now. I am sorry I was not clear with blue filter. It has to do with bw conversion using a filter or the channel mixer. depending of how much of each channel you included in your conversion, various colors come out lighter or darker. but I like what you have done.

Thanks Frank, I might just do that.:D
Thanks kevindar, I did play with the channels to find a lighter version of the eyes, so cryptically I figured what you were saying. It was good advice as I would have not thought of it... And now I am seeing that there is more to B+W conversion than just desaturating.
Ahhh...still so much to learn.;)
