I wasn't quite sure if engagement sessions are still being posted in this forum or the 'people forum', but here goes :) Mods can move this posting to the correct forum
I had the priviledge of shooting my first paid engagement session for a client, who contacted me through a friend :) We went to the Golden Gate Park in SF to take their pictures, where they will be having their wedding next year at the Shakespeare Gardens! These are a few of my favorites, please critique the ones that will need adjustments! Cheers :)

I like your style! #7 is a great photo IMO with out the branches or whatever they are is the foreground. They are distracting IMO. Still a great photo though. The rest of them are fantastic!
And yes, Lightroom RULES! :)

In general, I like the shots :). Good colour, and some interesting angles. However, the vignetting on #13 (purposely added?) is a bit distracting though, especially where it overlaps with the sky (or maybe I'm the only one who thinks that... ???)

Wow! I really love your work! You have a great eye and great composition and use of angles. I agree about #7, I know what you were trying to achieve with the blurred branches, but I find them more annoying then anything else. Really that's the biggest nitpick. I love these! What's your equipment?

Great work...I love #1, the way you have used the plants to frame the image is perfect.
Congratulations on getting the gig!

Never been to a wedding, eh? Don't you know the groom is simply the first person in the invitation list...

i see in no 3... that the hands are too small to be just them in focus...

unfortunately, when i took all these shots i used the flower branches in the foreground...sometimes my use of creativity backfires in this case ....its different looking at the picture on the small camera screen vs the computer monitor. i tend to kick myself after seeing some of the uploaded pictures because i notice certain things that i might have overlooked when shooting :(
i was switching back and forth between my 5d attached with the 24-70, and my xti attached with the 70-200 f/4L. i was actually shooting more with the xti because i didnt' want to be in my client's faces all the time :) it's nice to have some distance apart so they can feel more at ease with each other. the color quality also seemed to lack on the 5d for some reason, maybe it was my camera settings??

i agree with you. i was trying different angles, but at the time i couldn't get the hands big enough while keeping the couple in the frame without chopping them out, if u know what i mean ;)

yup! i was looking at the picture with your comment in mind, and i think i will readjust the vignetting wihtout it in the sky :) does the picture look too dark in general?

There are so many? I want MORE! :) I love them. If it was my session and you had them look at the camera in the first shot - it'd go straight to canvas and on a wall. :)

All of these look pretty fantastic! #4 though, I would have maybe tried to make it look as though she was reaching for it and him keeping it from her instead of just holding it out. Kinda like teasing maybe. Just holding it out there kinda serves no purpose to the photo.
Sorry if that sounds over critical! Love them all though! Inspires some great ideas!
edit:
Just looked at all the linked ones... REally is a VERY NICE set over all! Great job! Have the couple seen them yet?

Beautiful job! You did great. Yes, Lightroom is awesome, I don't know how I'd live without it at this point.. Oops.. just realized this is an old post, but I just thought I'd leave a comment anyhow!
