So, how you plan on using it--what type of niche are you trying to fill?

Congrats, btw.

Yeah, I wanna see some photos from this lens. I remember from the film days this lens was also highly praised as being real sharp. I think it might make an excellent "Walk Around" lens. :D

You've picked a great lens. Very sharp. I bought mine two years ago for my EOS film bodies, and as mentioned above it makes a great walk-around lens for the digital bodies. With the 1.6 factor, it's almost a "normal" lens for 35mm. The bonus of using this on a digital body is the lack of vignetting (sp?). When stacking filters on the end (polarizer, grad nd, red #25 for landscapes) I would lose the corners after two screw on filters with the film bodies. On the digital I've stacked up to four screw on filters with no loss of the corners.

I have the 28 f 2.8 and the 50 F 1.8 and I see very little difference between them - other than the fov and a slightly better build.
Like the 35 f2, the 28 is on a fairly short list of Canon's high performing lenses at a bargain price. It is also one of those very light and tidy sized lenses that you never need to remove the hood to make it more compact.

if it's anything like the 20mm prime, then it's awesome, as far as optics and build.

In order to post pictures here you must have them uploaded somewhere on the web, and link them like this:

Enjoy your lens.
