After tons of thoughts about picking up this camera, I finally did it. I simply couldn't resist it!
In HK, there are "import" (no warranty) and "distributor" model. The price difference was 4475 USD and 5100 USD. I picked the first one w/ out the need to wait in queue.
Tomorrow, I am going to the race track to try to shoot some pictures. I hope I can figure this camera before I get there....

Congratulations. The control layout is really pretty straightforward, but a little confusing if you have to 'un-learn' another camera. I had a rough day or two in the transition from my 10D to the Mk II, but that's all old news now.

You'll love it.

Congrats on the camera. You will enjoy it immensely.

Don't forget to take out that "oversized" manual. Worth it's weight in gold.

Thank you all! I am sure I will be very happy with it. With 8.5 FPS, I am sure the shutter will be working pretty hard - possibly much harder than my 10 D was.
the 10 D may go to my wife for her "studio" shooting experience.

My MkII has arrived yesterday! During the last 48 hours, all I've been doing is read everything about "her" on the net, cause the english version instructions will take two more days to come! (I'm in Japan)
Oh, my God! I need some rest now!

Congrats on yours, too!

My life has already changed!

Since the MKII came and my wife saw the bill, I'm sleeping at the garage!

Maybe you're not talking about this kind of changes.

at least you have a garage. Maybe you can rent it out. or better yet why not set a studio up there and make back the money.

Seriously, a guy I went into yesterday started taking photos as a hobby. Now he's a full time car races photographer. If he's lucky and got most drivers to pay for the pictures, he could make 3K each event.

Digitalmono: Where in Japan do you live in? I lived there for 2 years and it's a great place to take pictures!!! You are a lucky man!
