WOW!!! This is a nice compromise between the Canon's 100 and 180. Something in between. I think the focal length is just perfect!!!

No word on pricing yet.. I assume less than the 180mm and more than the 105mm
Does the 105mm have the HSM focus motor?
The Sigma Macros are some of the good ones.. very highly regarded as ar as imgae quality.. but the 105 has slow AF.

No, the 105mm does not have HSM and it's almost useless for AF. Very slow and it hunts a lot. Otherwise it's a damned fine lens. Great optics.
This 150 would be sweet... The price would have to be good to beat Tamron's 180mm Macro though, which is a very very nice lens for less than $700.

Cool!!!
I've been holding off in purchasing a macro lens. The Canon 100 and Sigma 105 seem too close to my 85 prime in terms of focal length. This just seem to hit the sweet spot!!!
..............hopefully the HSM lives up to its name.

.........maybe between 500 to 600 USD............hopefully...........
I would not spend more than 700 on a macro lens.

It should.
I'm going to have to keep an eye on this lens. The 105mm is definitely too short for a lot of thing. But yet 180mm is on the edge of too long. 150mm would be a sweet sweet spot for butterflies and dragonflies and such. And Canon's 180mm is a monster - though Tamron's is a very nice size.

That is a very interesting lens, if AF is fast and the price good..
