After the reasonably recent lunar eclipse in Eastern Australia my S3 was a little out of sorts.
I was using the full zoom and going into digital zoom to get closer to the red moon in eclipse. When I turned it off I got a crunching sound and a lens error when turning the camera off. When I powered it up again it would retract the lens and then be ready to go. Worst thing was it was intermittent, so I thought I had no chance of getting the fault diagnosed let alone fixed.
Full marks to Canon who fixed it right at the end of the warranty period and it's back and as good as new. :)
