View Full Version : Unwanted Magenta Tint on B/W photo output from Epson 2200`

I've noted that in my Print Preview window of CS many of my color images have a magenta cast, but the output is good and is consistent with what I see in the color proof. However, when I have started to experiment with black and white output (changed from color either by using two hue desaturation layers or by Optikverv), I note the same magenta cast in the print preview window AND in the black and white (actually mostly red) print. And to anticipate, yes I am using the correct color space (Adobe 1998), am using the appropriate printer driver, and have turned off printer management of color.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

If you have turned off printer color management, then PS has to do the image color space to print color space conversions. You thus need an ICC color profile specific to your printer and the paper media you are using. Do you have this? What doing you mean by "appropriate printer driver?" And most importantly, what steps, if any, have you taken to calibrate and profile your monitor?
Others on the forum have more experience than I with the Epson printers. Once you define your workflow in more detail, the problem probably can be figured out. In describing the details, you need to be specific on what options you are choosing for color managment in the "Print with Preview" dialog (i.e., what are you choosing for source and print spaces)

If you are selecting Adobe RGB(1998) as your Output in PS, that is incorrect. When you turn off printer color management by selecting No Color Adjustment in the printer driver, you must select an ICC profile for the paper and ink you are using in the Output of PS such as sp2200premiumglosssy-pk. Your Source is where the image color space should be.
