My G6 camera got wet from a wave. Now the Viewfinder is all white. I can not even get the menu screen to display. I tried letting the system dry out. Any advice on what I may try to repair it or is the camera dead? Cannon is offering me a replacement G7 camera for a low cost. should I go for it?

If you were fond of using RAW with your G6, don't get the G7. Spring for a G6 or the newer G9. Sorry about that incident, can the camera still take photos though? Welcome to the forums.

Go to your local pet store and look for white rock cat litter. Silica gel is what it is. About $10 a bag.

Stick your camera in the bag for a couple days with no card and no battery. Seal bag. It will dry out for sure.

Great idea, cos! You can also collect those small dessicant packs in some stuff that you buy, say electronics, etc. I hoard them and stick them in camera bags, containers to keep the equipment dry.

Alternatively, you can put your camera inside a largish plastic box that is reasonably sealed, and stick a low wattage incandescent bulb in there. That will dry out your camera too.

Probably a dead loss as the salt in the water (assuming sea wave?) will short out or corrode some vital electronic bit. At least the G7/9 has a waterproof case option.
